Grilling with the General… aka …Cookin’ with Costco

My husband is an excellent cook and he actually does a LOT of the cooking, so yes, I am a lucky chick.  The man is focused.  He watched an entire month of Food Network while on Paternity Leave with The Little Mother.  Amazing isn’t it – that he got an entire MONTH off because we had a baby.

Two things The General LOVES are grilling and saving money so today I am going to show you what he cooked up for us this weekend.  He purchased EVERYTHING he used from either Costco or he used a generic store brand product.  He was so proud of himself.

Saturday night the General made pork ribs..lots and lots of pork ribs.  It worked out nicely because we got a last minute invite to dinner down the street so we loaded up our dinner, grabbed our to-go cups and had a buffet with Mrs. M, Mrs W & families.

Below is The General in Action

Start with: Costco sized double pack of Pork Ribs

Here are the ingredients for the rub: Kirkland Brand Salt, Sweeet Mesquite Seasoning, Ground Black Pepper and Granulated Garlic. Also strore brand Chili Powder

Sprinkle Rub Ingredients on Pork

Rub your Meat (keep it clean people, talking about dinner here)

Make sure you get all sides of the meat...Rub that MEAT...

Great opportunity to teach your kids the safe way to handle meat while cooking

Wrap your meat (people, really get your minds out of the gutter)

Each rack of ribs should have it's own pretty tinfoil packaging

Then put ribs on super small hibachi like coal grill and cook for 4 hours or so (remember to make sure you add new briquettes to keep that sucker hot)

Add your favorite BBQ sauce (we like Sweet Baby Rays and of course you can find it at Costco) , cut and make a mess

These bad boys were very good and they fell right off the bone.  It pains me to admit this but that sad little grill did a great job on our dinner.
